Things are happening at your Peace & Justice Center (PJC). Here are a couple of them. This fall we’ll be hosting a photo exhibit by Bill Haigwood and Max Clausen. The photos show street activism in the 60’s paired with photos of contemporary street activism. It’s quite moving and demonstrates how we are all links in a much larger chain. We’ll also be showing the documentary “The Last Sky,” which looks at the genocide in Gaza and Israel’s oft overlooked war on southern Lebanon.
In addition, Winterblast, a great street party is coming to the South of A (SOFA) art district. This family friendly event is free for all and features bands, art and the colorful sofa parade. It all takes place on the evening of Nov. 9. We’ll let you know the times and dates through the e-blast. The e-blast is a public posting of events happening in our area, ranging from teach-ins and demonstrations to gatherings at the library. Sign up for it at: PJCsoco.org and be more fully informed about local events happening now. Last month we hosted Jodi Evans from Code Pink, who spoke on creating a Peace Economy. It was an inspirational gathering that lit up a number of people. You can read more about it in this issue of the Peace Press. In September the Center participated in the Gay Pride Parade in Geyserville. We are also present at the Justice for Palestine rallies in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Petaluma, and wherever a member of the PJC is present. You can be a part of this by joining the PJC. A low-cost annual membership will make you a member, which will allow you to use the Center. You can also join the volunteers brigade and help in a number of ways. You can help make our world a more just, a more peaceful place by joining your Peace & Justice Center today.” .
