The new year finds your Peace & Justice Center (PJC) nicely busy. As well as working with the Environmental Center, the Disability Rights Workshop and others, to support each other’s work in the community.
In a thumbnail, Warheads to Windmills links Climate Change to the elimination of nuclear weapons. We all know that a limited nuclear war could easily result in a global winter that would end nearly all life on earth. This is a climate change issue. Of course, there’s more to it than that and you can learn all about it by going to Warheads to Windmills. They are doing a book tour to spread this idea. Your PJC hopes to be a part of bringing them to Sonoma County. Do check out this important organization. Our second teach-in did very well with a highly engaged audience. this teach-in was on Gaza, the weaponization of anti-Semitism and Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS). It was presented by members of our local North Coast Coalition for Palestine. It was filmed and soon it will be on our YouTube station. The first teach-in by Zero Waste Sonoma is posted there already, as well as a lovely concert by our dear friends, Lindalou & Michael. You can also watch last year’s awards ceremony and a climate change presentation from the Party for Socialism and Liberation that clearly links climate change to capitalism. All of these are very informative and worth your time. Go to pjcsoco.org to see them. If you go to our very thorough e-blast page you’ll be aware of nearly every action taking place in Sonoma County. Sign up for it. It’s free. The building fund is going well and we expect to start fixing the building in the spring. It’s not too late for you to contribute to this worthwhile project. Simply send your tax-deductible check to Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County, 467 Sebastopol Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401. Mark it building fund and we’ll know how to use it. There’s a lot happening at your PJC. If you have things you want to do that help promote peace and social justice, contact of us and we’ll try to fold it in with everything else. Thanks for all your support to help make your PJC thrive. We want to thank all of our supporters who donated to the Raise the Roof appeal letter. Thank you to everyone for the quick and generous responses, this means we can start repairs on our roof in the Spring. |
