Note: Every Sunday afternoon between 2 and 3:30, in Courthouse square in Santa Rosa, during a demonstration for a ceasefire, there is a table set up with all the details regarding contacting your representatives. Stationary, stamps, and writing utensils are provided. Usually, between 3 and 3:30, announcements are made about various initiatives in support of a ceasefire, and you can plug in to find out what you are able to do.
The city councils of Santa Rosa, Cotati, and Petaluma, will soon have an opportunity to address adopting a ceasefire resolution.
A number of us who gather in support of our Palestinian brothers and sisters are Jewish, and have collaborated in drafting a letter to the city councils explaining why we support a ceasefire resolution. The contents of the letter explain why we came together to write it, and if you identify as Jewish, and are in alignment with the the intention, you are invited to sign it too.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know in Sonoma County who identifies as Jewish that you think might like to sign it. The only people who will likely see the names that are signed, are the initial drafter of the letter (not me), and the city council members it is addressed to. However, since it is an "open letter", if someone feels concerned putting their full name on it, initials would work, or a variation of your name that feels less recognizable. I'm sorry for the late notice, but the initial drafter of the letter will be sending it out within the next day or two, so the sooner the better!
Also, feel free to write your own letter (to city council members, congress people, white house, letters to the editor in the newspapers)! Every voice, from every and any background it important in this endeavor.
Thank you for reading this
With hope for a more peaceful and just world,
