Changes at the Peace & Justice Center
by PJC Board of Directors
Lots of changes at the Peace & Justice Center in the last month. Our longtime director, Shekeyna Black has left us and is now with the Santa Rosa Symphony. We wish her well. Since then, the Board of Directors has been looking for a new director as well as keeping the Center moving forward. We are now open Monday through Friday from 1 to 4. Stop by and say hi to Larry, Rebel, Alice or, George.
We held a benefit concert in February with David Rovics. It was quite successful with many people commenting that it was good to see the PJC open again. We're going to try to do more events. At that event we gathered clothes, sleeping bags and other supplies to help the unhoused during this cold, wet winter. These supplies have all gone out to those in need.
In the last couple of months, we've become home for the Party for Socialism & Liberation who meet here on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday in the evenings for study groups. Almas held a workshop for indigenous women who have Spanish as a second language, facilitated by members of Movimiento Cultural de la Union Indignea. We're proud that the PJC could host such an event. Hopefully they'll be more. The Enviornmental Center is partnering with us and will be meeting at the Center soon.
We've redesigned our web page so that it's even easier to navigate. Go to www.pjcsoco.org to see it. Featured on this page are the links to our long running publication the Peace Press, to the e-blast, which informs people of events that are happening right now and our YouTube channel with videos of the PJC at work. In addition to this we now have a couple of comprehensive resource lists. Go to www.pjcsoco.org to explore all of this.
There's lots happening at the Peace & Justice Center with opportunities for more to come. This is your Peace & Justice Center, your space to create in order to pursue peace through justice. What you bring to the table is what we serve up to the community. Add some ingredients to the gumbo of peace and justice today.
